Fingerprint is the most reliable identifier for banks

In February we held the second practical conference of the magazine «Banking review» «Remote authentication and biometrics in the financial industry: regulation, technology, solutions». The purpose of the event was to reach a common understanding of how, where and when in the banking sector will be applied biometrics.

More than 150 participants among whom there were representatives of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, of the Bank of Russia, commercial banks, and also the entities developers gathered to determine how to make reliable remote identification for banks, what biometric technologies to choose. The program of a conference was very saturated and consisted of two sections. The first was devoted to legislative regulation of application of biometric technologies in the financial services industry and the specifics of the regulatory framework, conditions of wide introduction of biometrics. The second section included practical cases of implementation of biometrics in banks and finance companies. In the second part Anatoly Bokov, the CEO of Sonda Technology, made a report «Use of systems of fingerprints identification in real time in banks».

In his report Anatoly Bokov said: «the System of identification of citizens in real-time is necessary first of all in the government law enforcement agencies, but not only. These systems find more and more applications also in civil sector, including the bank sphere. In banks in real time most often there is a check of borrowers for the purpose of identification of the swindlers trying to obtain the credit according to someone else's documents. And the greatest efficiency of such control systems of borrowers is shown when using fingerprints. Numerous independent international tests show that only fingerprints allow to provide reliability of identification higher than 99% on multimillion databases».
