On March 26 the Sonda team is celebrating its 30-th anniversary!

30 years ago a few like-minded people united in a group and decided to develop an unusual product - the identification system based on fingerprint.

New Sonda’s algorithms on FVC

Sonda submitted two new algorithms on the regular Fingerprint Verification Competition - the advanced fingerprint algorithm and the algorithm of palmprint identification. Results were published on July 14 for fingerprint algorithm and on July 18 for palmprint algorithm.

On July 13 the Sonda Technologies Ltd. specialists had a meeting with the Argentinian police delegation headed by Mr. Guillermo Berra, Deputy Minister and Auditor General of the Security Service of the Interior Ministry of the Buenos Aires province.

Automated Fingerprint Identification System

AFIS is designed for creation and maintenance of electronic databases of ten-prints, fingerprints and palm-prints and latents collected from crime scenes.

Sonda AFIS performs all types of identification:

Identification of the criminals who left their latents at the crime scene;
Identification of unidentified corpses including ones killed in terrorist attacks, catastrophes or natural disasters;
Identification of individuals who is in the international wanted list;
Identification of incapable citizens who are unconscious or lost memory;
Establishment of involvement in crime commission, including at the request of Interpol or the Interior Ministry;
Establishment of involvement in crime commission of homeless people.

Sonda AFIS successfully passed certification tests in different countries and showed high searching speed, accuracy and reliability of identification on multi-million databases.

Sonda AFIS performs searching of all kinds: LP-TP, LP-LP, TP-TP, TP-LP, PP-LPP, LPP-PP.

Tenprints input from both flatbed and live scanners of well-known manufacturers: Crossmatch, Greebit, Futronic, etc.

Tenprints may contain 10 rolled fingerprints, check-prints, palm-prints and their lateral faces. Palm can be administered in whole or by segments.

Latents input from papers, films or photos is available as well as capturing with the help of video devices or transparent dactyloscopic films.

TP-TP matching accuracy exceeds 99%.

Tenprints processing is automatic. Manual adjustment is provided for integral features allocation or pattern skeleton.

Sonda AFIS retrieval rate in the TP-TP matching mode runs up to 100-300 thousands per second on a single processor.

The system automatically scales images of latents even if their scale is unknown.

Latents of good quality can be processed automatically. For latents of medium and poor quality there are convenient semi-automatic tools for correction of pattern skeleton and minutiae.

Searching can be executed with the minimum number of points: 5-8.

The system automatically generates tables marking coincided points.

Sonda’s algorithms have greater accuracy in matching enrolled and flat fingerprints due to:

  • tolerance to fingerprints scaling and nonlinear deformation;
  • tolerance to fingerprints translations and rotations up to 180°.

WSQ compression algorithm certified by FBI is used for fingerprint processing.

AFIS Sonda supports ANSI/NIST protocols of FBI and Interpol versions. High performance due to distributing database array and search parallel processing.
